How to download YouTube videos into playable formats on your computer!

dummies_man.gif Okay, I know a whole lot of you who have always came to me to ask if I can download a video for them from YouTube for a presentation or project (referring to students in CHS). Well good news folks, I’m unveiling the secret right here in this post. And all you people have to do is click that link that says “Read More,” and no more will you have to ask me, Adelbert, how to do such an amazingly simple thing. The “How to” after the jump.

Alright, you made it this far. The first thing you need to do is download a copy of Free FLV Converter.
I have generously provided a link for you right here.

Download “Free FLV Converter”

Now, follow these steps closely. I have also provided screenshots as a quick aid.

After you have downloaded the link, double click it.

Press “OK”

Click “Next”

Click the radio button to Accept, and click “Next”

Uncheck the “Set Yahoo!…” and “I agree…” and click “Next” (never install programs that have 3rd party software attached to them ie. spyware, malware, etc).

Click “Yes”

Click “Next”

Click “Next”

My preferences were to not have Desktop or Quick Launch icons, however, choose whichever floats your boat and click “Next”

Click “Install”

Click “Finish”

Now you finished the installation. For the next few instructions, I have found a video I wanted to download on my computer. So now that the program is open, click “English” and click “Ok”

Click the “Tube downloader” on the top and change the “Output configuration to the following.
Format: AVI
Output path: Desktop

Video codec:WMV2

14.jpg

Click “Add link” and paste the URL of the YouTube video you want to download. With the YouTube I found, I pasted the link onto the text box and pressed “OK”

15.jpg

Then the program automatically downloads the file.

16.jpg

Then after it finishes, it continues on to convert the file.

17.jpg

When it says “Converting 100%,” the file is now available at your disclosure.

Go to your desktop (minimize all the programs you have open), and voila. Double click the file, and I hear the sweet sounds of the famous Numa guy blasting through my speakers.

Nice but all the installation instructions were probably unnecessary. You could just say “follow install instructions” or something. This should be good for a lot of people, though.

Very nice, though there’s no guarantee that I won’t ask you to do it for me anyway. ;)
