So I was sorta bored last night and decided that I wanted to make Apple Crisp, which is a very simple version of any Apple Pie recipe. To start, grab 3-4 apples, brown sugar, sugar, flour, butter (room temperature), cinnamon, pastry cutter, mixing bowl, 9 inch-or-so baking dish (I used a round one), apple peeler, and a handy dandy knife. Picture of the final product after the jump (meaning, click the Read more! button –>).

Peel the apples.

Cut the apples vertically through the core and carefully slice out the seeds.

Now slice the apples into thin, yet chunky pieces. Place them into the baking dish. Sprinkle about a spoonful of sugar on top of them and a pinch of cinnamon.

Place a stick of butter in a bowl. Pour about 2 1/2 cups of flour, followed by 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and about 1/2 a cup of regular sugar. (I said about alot because I never used exact measurements, that’s how pro I am =D)

Using the pastry cutter, “cut” into the butter through the dough multiple times until you see crumb-like pieces of butter and the flour mixture.

Cover the apples with this mixture, insuring a majority of the apples are covered with it. Finally, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon again.

Place in a preheated oven at 385 for 30-40 minutes or until golden. Call 911 if your house burns down.

Again, please note that I am not responsible for any fingers being cut off, dislocated, etc. I am also not responsible for any houses that get burnt, fires that occur, or any other stupid mistakes a person would make. Bake at your own risk.

Aside from those notes, enjoy the final product.

Coming home from my job, I decided to go to Kroger and purchase Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits. My boss told me his secret for Chinese Donuts at the restaurant, and I even saw it in action. So first I got a 4 pack of the 10 biscuit can and drove home as fast as I could just because I was craving these donuts. And so the baking/cooking begins.

Heat up about 3 pints to a quart of oil in a pot, or if you have a deep fryer, that would be perfect.

Wait about 10 minutes or so for oil to be super hot.

Whip out that can of biscuits and follow the instructions on how to open it. (Took me a while to find out how to) .

Take out the 10 pieces and set them on a plate. Throw away the empty can. (It’s always good to clean up).

Once the oil is hot, drop pieces in enough for the pot to hold. Mine held about 5 each.

The pieces turn from the biscuit shape to a sorta poofy roundish oval shape.

After they turn golden brown, take out the pieces and strain them of their oil.

Place them in a bowl, preferably big enough to toss them around in.

When all the donuts are done, pour some powdered sugar and toss donuts in the bowl for an even coat.

Place donuts on a platter and serve.

Have fun eating and don’t get hurt, burn your house down, burn your hand, or eat your finger from licking the sugar from your fingers. And also, I am not responsible for any damage done by and from any incompetent person who can’t make these donuts.

Happy new year!
